Standard vs Premium Kitchen Respray: Which Is Right for You?

·10 min read·By Bryan Grime
Premium kitchen respray completed by Revitalize Resprays with smooth factory grade cabinet finish

If you are comparing a Standard kitchen respray with a Premium workshop respray, the honest answer is this. They are not the same job. They are built for different customers, different budgets and different reasons.

We offer both because not every kitchen needs the same level of work. A landlord trying to refresh a rental before new tenants move in does not always need the same process as a homeowner who wants the closest thing to a brand new kitchen without paying for a full replacement.

What a Standard kitchen respray actually is

A Standard respray is the fast, smart refresh. We come to the property, mask the kitchen off properly, and spray the permanent fixed sections in the kitchen. It is designed for people who need the kitchen to look much better quickly without going through the full workshop process.

The right customer for Standard is often someone selling a house, buying a house to rent out, or turning around an inherited property. They want the kitchen to look clean, modern and presentable without spending more than the property needs.

What a Premium workshop respray actually is

Premium is a different level of job. We remove the doors and drawer fronts, take them back to our unit in Denton, Manchester, and put the time into each piece properly. That means cleaning, degreasing, sanding, priming, sanding again, repairing chips and knocks, priming again and applying several top coats in the colour and finish you choose.

The aim is simple. Give you the closest thing to a brand new kitchen without ripping the kitchen out, without spending tens of thousands, and without being upsold on appliances, worktops, flooring and everything else that often comes with a replacement kitchen.

Who Standard is right for

Standard is ideal when speed and budget matter most. If you are selling the property, refreshing a buy to let, or trying to get a tired kitchen looking presentable before tenants or buyers see it, Standard normally makes sense.

You still get a proper sprayed finish, but it is not the same investment of time as Premium. That is the honest difference. You pay less because less workshop time goes into the job.

Who Premium is right for

Premium is for homeowners who are staying in the house and want the best long term result. If you like your layout, your carcasses are sound, and you mainly want the kitchen to look new again, Premium is usually the option I would recommend.

In a lot of kitchens, 99 percent of the doors are actually in decent condition. You might have one or two vinyl wrapped doors peeling, or a few chips, dents and scrapes. Many people assume that means the kitchen needs ripping out. It usually does not. Those repairs are exactly what we specialise in.

The Premium workshop process, step by step

Once you are booked in, we usually come to the property on a Monday. We remove the doors and drawer fronts, take them back to our Denton unit, then work through each one properly. They are cleaned, degreased, sanded, primed and sanded again.

If there are knocks, bumps, chips or scrapes, we repair them with the right filler for the job. That might be one part filler, two part wood filler or wax depending on the damage. The doors are then sanded again, primed again, sanded again and finished with several top coats in your chosen colour.

We then return to the property, mask the whole kitchen, spray the fixed sections such as end panels, cornices and leading edges, then hang the doors back up and realign everything. That is the work behind the finish people are paying for.

Paint system, colour choice and durability

We use a professional solvent based, lacquer based wood finishing paint mixed with an acid catalyst. The catalyst acts as a hardener. It is an industrial wood finishing system, not basic decorator paint rolled onto kitchen doors.

Colour choice is bespoke. We can match Farrow and Ball, Dulux, RAL, Little Greene, Craig and Rose, Benjamin Moore or a physical sample if you do not know the colour name. We can also match matt, eggshell, satin, gloss and specific sheen levels. Two tone kitchens are possible too.

Aftercare is straightforward. Do not abuse the doors with strong chemical cleaners or heavy detergent products. For normal marks, a baby wipe or damp cloth usually sorts it. With normal use, the finish is very durable and hard wearing.

Which option should you choose?

If you are moving out, selling, renting the property, or need a quick sale, Standard all day. It is the right tool for that job.

If you are staying in the home, Premium is the best option. You are investing more money, so we invest more time into the kitchen. That is what gives you the long term finish.

Full replacement is the last option, not the first. If the layout is wrong or the units are failing, replacement might make sense. But in 2026, if the kitchen is structurally sound, respraying is usually a far better route than ripping everything out.

Frequently asked questions

Is Premium worth it compared with Standard?

Premium is worth it if you are staying in the home and want the longest lasting, closest to new finish. Standard is still a good finish, but it is designed for speed, value and presentation rather than the full workshop process.

How long are the doors away on a Premium respray?

We normally collect the doors and drawer fronts on a Monday and return Thursday, Friday or Saturday, depending on the schedule that week. Most of the work is done at our unit in Denton, not in your kitchen.

Can you fix peeling vinyl or damaged doors?

Yes. Most kitchens are in better condition than people think. If one or two vinyl wrapped doors are peeling, or there are chips, dents and scrapes, we can usually strip, repair, fill, sand and refinish them rather than replacing the whole kitchen.

What paint do you use on kitchen doors?

We use a professional solvent based, lacquer based wood finishing system with an acid catalyst hardener. It is an industrial wood finishing coating, not normal brush or roller paint.

Can you match Farrow and Ball, RAL or Little Greene colours?

Yes. We can match Farrow and Ball, Dulux, RAL, Little Greene, Craig and Rose, Benjamin Moore and physical colour samples. We can also match sheen levels such as matt, eggshell, satin, gloss, 10 percent, 20 percent, 30 percent or 40 percent sheen.

Do you offer a guarantee?

Yes. Revitalize Resprays offers a five year guarantee on kitchen, bedroom and uPVC respraying. It does not cover future water damage, flooding, misuse or damage caused after the work is completed.
